Girls Track and Field finished off their great season on Friday with a second place finish at the State True Team* meet in their first ever appearance. The girls had been having a very solid season, consistently placing first and second in almost all of their meets. Throughout the season, they’ve had very reliable throwers, particularly Carissa Travis and Ammie O’Connor, as well as the long-distance running team, especially Senior Jaycie Thomsen. Thomsen and the rest of the long-distance team placed amazingly at the True Team meet, taking home first, second and sixth place in the 1600m race, as well as first, third and fourth in the 3200m race.

Travis and O’Connor were consistently in the top four or five for shot put and discus in all of their “regular season” meets, but were not as successful at the True Team meet with Carissa Travis only gaining ninth place in discus, while no other Wayzata thrower broke the top ten in either event.
Wayzata’s sprint relays also had great success at the meet, placing first, second and first respectively
in the 4x200m, 4x400m and 4x800m races. This comes as no surprise considering these events
did well in the girls’ earlier meets, so they carried over their success and delivered for the team at True
