Group projects rarely gives benefit to anyone involved in the process. Those in the group who sit idly and don’t contribute don’t receive any information from the endeavor, while those who receive the work meant for multiple people don’t learn as it becomes merely a stressful deadline.Group projects end up being an excuse to assign more work while unintentionally giving a “pass” to a select few. Instead of relying on group projects for a large amount of material, tactics such as separating the content into individual projects and having students teach others is an alternative to the doomed group project.
